My scan tool shows the cabin temp unfiltered/filtered to be 88 degrees, keep in mind its 32 in Michigan. The temp can be turned up to hot but yet it cools itself. Both duct temp sensors are functioning properly. The ambient is fine, sunload is functional. What tells the ecm that he cabin is 88 degrees when the windows are down? I am trying to find where the cabin temp sensor is thinking thats its malfunctioning. My scan tool shows the blend door is functioning properly etc. baffled as to where this cabin sensor is. help appreciated,t hanks

Look for something that usually looks like a microphone. If it's anything like the other GM trucks of that era, it would have a small fan to suck in the ambient air. On GMT360, they were located in the B pillar next to the driver's head. On full size trucks and SUVs, they were in the roof above the driver. If it always shows 88, then I would assume the sensor itself is dead instead of the usual fan motor.

I looked, no b pillar. Small vent hole in center over head but that looks like microphone for hands free phone. A one inch round plate above head with small holes in headliner looks like a really small speaker.

Follow this first Video for investigating access to the air column by looking around for any Interior Sensor Venturi mounted adjacent to the Filtration Box.

Cabin Filter R&R:

The Outside Ambient Air Temperature Sensor functionality provides a baseline input to the PCM that might be cross referenced to the cabin Temp Sensor...so if IT has gone sideways... the readings on the interior might become off kilter:

That's probably it as that's what I had in my Avalanche however my 07 LS TB had the mic like that there.

I tested the two air duct sensors already and appear fine. The ambient air temp displays the temp accurately on both the dash and scan tool and local weather temp. The only thing that was outa sorts is the cabin temp.

Further explanation. The TB's mic wasn't a flat disc but a bulgy perforated dome. The Avalanche's was a flat perforated disc.

There's gotta be an interior sensor somewhere. I do assume you have an auto HVAC system (you didn't say that explicitly) and if so, it should have that sensor. If you can find an actual manual, it should give the location.

Agreed. The ‘Thing’ of it is though, there is always the option for GM to use an easily concealed, sensitive, inexpensive, reliable and well-proven technology like any $10.00 K-Style Thermo-Couple offers as shown in the exemplar images of the Plug-In Thermister that I use with my Klein MM700 Digital Multi-Meter below:

KELINMM700THERMOCOUPLE.jpgKELINMM700THERMOCOUPLE1.jpgKELINMM700THERMOCOUPLE2.jpgKELINMM700THERMOCOUPLE3.jpg

Keep in mind that right now... if you walk over to your HVAC Wall Modular Thermostat backed up by a pair of "AA" Batteries ...there is One of THESE "Things" hidden inside ...just under the back cover... working away at Reading Out the 'Cabin' Temp of that Room you're standing in all the time; ready to signal the Air Handler and Outside Compressor at a moments notice and either Turn It On ...or Turn it OFF.

And IF such a ‘Thing’; an Object Hardly Larger than a Mustard Seed on “The Business End” of it, were likewise incorporated or hidden inside of the Chevrolet Equinox HVAC Control Module, then it becomes invisible to any easy discovery and EZ replacement:

After all... If GM can turn what should be a simple repair by any R&R of this single sensor component into a "Dealer Only Repair" requiring the arcane replacement of this entire Module in order to solve the problem... Based upon their Dealership Business Model, it makes perfect sense to do so.

Okay... as we all suspected... According to THIS Color Enhanced Diagram... there should be "Two TEDs" (Thermo-Electric-Devices) concealed adjacent the Underside Passenger & Driver's Seat Cushion Frame as well as concealed inside of their Back Rests that work in concert with an HVAC Seat Environmental Control Module centered below on the Seat Frames:

"Cool Beenz"...

FWIW... Download and Peruse THIS Amazing "Tech 2 Paths" PDF very useful for figuring out some VERY Arcane Tests and Procedures for all "GYMKO" Tech 2 Owners that will also apply to VDIAG-NANO Owners as well. It's all organized Alphabetically...so wading through all of the HVAC Stuff will be "A Breeze" and you just might find a Test in this Document for the Thermistors... :>)
