Ok, It's a car and this place is for trucks but it's not my car and I just wanted to share because I couldn't find this info online when I looked.

A freind has a 2009 Chevy Malibu, 2.4L 4 cyl. The serpentine belt broke and I put a new one on for him. I quickly realized the cause was a bad AC clutch bearing which he doesn't care to fix just now.

The local auto parts wants to sell you a bypass pulley you put in place of the compressor but we didn't want to remove the compressor as the system is still full of freon.

On this vehicle you can bypass the AC compressor just by putting a shorter serpentine belt on but, it's not a factory option so I had to figure out what length belt to use.

I put on a Gates K050340 on it. 5 rib 11/16" x 34-3/4" OC (17mm x 883mm OC).

A belt 35" long belt would work and be easier to get on but with the 34-3/4 in place the tensioner still has a little left to move so it's not too tight.

any diagrams as far as the flow of the belt ?
I just looked for a belt diagram online and found many different ones. I believe the vehicle I worked on has this one and it was a very simple modification as the shorter belt cleared the ac pulley.

The red line is where the shorter belt detoured from the original routing.
