Hello all my name is Mike. I just bought a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT on March 20. It has a 4.2 Liter Inline 6 cylinder. Its Black with Black and Grey interior. Its going to be a mild trail rig and for emergency use. I live in Tornado alley so all safety measures would help. I have plans to add auxiliary lighting on the roof as well a push bar. I will add a K/N Intake and a bigger set of wheels and Tires. The First Mod I completed was a simple CB Radio. The Radio itself is a Cobra Ultra 19 40 Channel with whip antenna. My friend Shawn owns the 2002 Black Envoy. We have know each other for years he is also helping me complete my rig as well as his Envoy.View attachment 33663 One of my favorite movie is Twister and The black Suburban well this may be no Suburban but its black and its a Chevrolet so I will betaking some ques from it.

Well found out my back hatch wouldnt lock using the keyfob or locking it. Had to remove the rear panel and adjust the arm. Now it locks. I heard this was a common issue.

Welcome to the nation!

As a side note, I (personally) wouldn't use a K&N, especially in tornado alley. They don't do well with small particulates, and dust would definately qualify as a small particulate.

Love the look of your ride though, but that could be because I'm partial to black TB's. If you are going to lift at all, you may want to consider either getting rid of completely or changing out the running boards for the tube style boards.

These are just my oppinions though, YMMV.

I'd also reccomend looking into upgrading your stereo for something with NAV if you are going to use it for an emergency vehicle. Off the top of my head, the Parrot Asteroid Smart comes to mind if you like android. It's definately the most versatile stereo on the market IMHO.

Congrats on the purchase, welcome to the club.

Looks real clean to me, just don't use simple green to clean it, caustic and leaves a nasty stain on metal. The front of the valve cover should be black not milky but that's just nitpicking.

Please don't use a K&N. Use either the factory AC (very good) or get a Green Filter. Green Filter USA - Official Site

I would get a tune from PCM of NC before I did a K&N, much, much more reward....so I've heard anyway.

Change all the fluids.

Please don't use a K&N if you like your engine.

Thank you for the kind words I have had K/N in my previous rides but i see your point. All the fluids have been changed and and the cover yeah I dont know why its that cover could be something they used to clean it caused the discoloration. It has 70,000 miles on it also it has the 3.73 and g80 locking diff.

As far as K&N, I did the K&N thing also, until I saw how much of the very fine particulates escape. Filter oil or not, IMHO there's no real benefit from them except at WOT and cleanliness weighs more heavily than maybe a couple HP. Given what you are going to put the motor through......Green Filter all the way. That's just my way of thinking and only food for thought.

Enjoy the TB....looks great in black.

whats a good intake for the 4.2

The stock one does just fine. There's a lot of conjecture on what a good aftermarket would be (and if they even work as compared to just altering engine noise), but one thing is for sure: stay away from random eBay ones. Guy posted one a while back that instead of having one solid tube with one bend, it was a bunch of tubes with like three bends (inducing turbulence), and it didn't even fit into the hole in the air filter area. It looked horribly cobbled-together.

A DIY solution isn't out of the question either, but there's people running K&N, Volant, and Airraid and probably a bunch of other brands around here.

Do you happen to have the GM part # for the driver's seat trim piece? A couple of my tabs broke and needs replaced. Or maybe the site you go yours from. Thanks man.

**Edit: After some more searching and viewing some drawings, I found the part # and description, that is for 2006-2009 with Ebony interior. gmpartsdirect.com had it for $15, plus shipping. Found it on amazon.com brand new and free two day shipping for $24.

I run the volant system with an Amsoil dry filter. Seems to work just fine. Whether I gained any hp over stock or it was worth the money, who knows.
