There is 2 different 'Pinion' Seals available how do you determine if it is a 8.0 or 8.6 ?

If it is a 4.2L short wheel base, it is an 8.0 from the factory.
If it is a long wheel base or a 5.3L, it is an 8.6 from the factory.

The cover is a bit deeper on the 8.6, and there's an extra gusset on the pumpkin of the 8.6 but I can't remember exactly where. I should have taken a picture comparing the two directly when I had one of each (was swapping a howling 8.0 for an 8.6 on my 2002 years ago).

I can take some pics of mine if you would like - my pinion seal is leaking it appears and trying to get everything together to get the job done.

I was reading my manual and it appears I need a new crush sleeve a swell?
