I recently swapped out Transmission in my 2004 Silverado 1500 4wd Auto trans.I got used one online. It worked fine for a bit.But stayed in limp mode. Most of the time. Now it will go into drive and reverse for a little bit and then nothing like its in neutral,No drive.I wsent and replaced fluid and replaced TCC solenoid.I checked the shift solenoids.Testged them and tghey seemed fine.I also replaced shift cable BTSI solenoid.I also rewired speed sensor from transfercase before.Im pretty sure the p N P switch is set right as it will start in neutral and park.No other gears.I replaced Ignition switch and plug with used one from pick and pull.I rewired it.I was worried I got the two red wires switched.I dont know if that would effect anything.Im getting diagnostic codes P0101,P0740,P0785,and P2761.Its weird,At first when I start it.It will shift into drive and want to take off and reverse also.I even backed up and drove forward changing parking spots at my office.Put it in park and then tried reverse and drive again and nothing.Ive heard it could be a wiring issue or ground.Im knowledgable enough to do somethings. But I need some instructions on how to figure this out.Trucks been sitting a couple months.I mess with it when I got some time. once once in awhile.

Visit Amazon and obtain a Can of CRC Electrical Spray Solvent (THIS Stuff can be sprayed to wet saturation and STILL allow for proper Non-Shorting Conductivity) and Spray out BOTH the Male and Female sides of this Connection:

CRC 05018 Lectra-Motive Electric Parts Cleaner - 19 Wt Oz.

(1) Locate THIS Plug and Remove IT:

(2) Thoroughly Spray out BOTH Sides and ALLOW TO DRY if possible.

(3) Plug the Gray-Green Connector Back In and Start the Vehicle ...AFTER... Removing the Negative Battery Cable for 30 Minutes prior to re-attachment.

(4) Clear the Codes and check for a better response...

(5) Fingers Crossed...

Did you look at the linked threads in my post above? If you're having multiple codes, that's where you'll likely find your answers.

Thank you I havent had codes read but before I had the same issues mentioned above There were many erratic electrical issues inside the cab and it shifted perfectly smooth thru all gears, it dragged from 2nd to 3rd. Im replacing fluid and filter and possibly the TC solenoid today, any other insight would be great. Thanks

So I replaced the Trans Control solenoid and it goes to reverse drive just fine took it down road and it shifts perfectly, i take it back out, when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, it drops to neautral and revs, i did notice grey sludge in pan, i changed fluid but didnt flush convertor. Is another solenoid bad?

Some black/grey sludge is normal but as long as there aren't any metal bits or pieces, it might be OK.

How many miles on this truck/tranny? It might just be worn out. As a hail Mary, you could replace the rest of the solenoids but that may just be putting new shoes on a dead horse. Others that have had similar issues wound being worn clutches and needed a rebuild. For an issue like this, I'd be taking it to a trans shop.
