The driver's seat lumbar adjusting knob broke off on my girl's seat. She never uses the knob adjustment because I removed the seat and removed the plate that is adjusted when turning the knob. No matter which way she adjusted the knob, the comfort was crap. Anyway, I looked at GM Parts Direct for OE knob. Punched in the VIN and then the application info and up popped the 89042211 part number and a pic of the knob. Looks exactly the same but says is for the "right seat". Both knobs look exactly the same, no matter which side. I looked up at RA and said the same description. The OE knob MSRP was $99.89. The knob at RA was not OE but the only option was a Dorman and the same OE part number was cross referenced and the Dorman one is $8.20. The supplied pic is the Dorman one and the other pics are the existing broken one.

So, tell me, does anyone know it the attaching part of knob is different for the p/s compared to the d/s? Hell I was surprised that the OE know was still available. You can see an "M1002252" stamped on the backside of the broken knob.

OE at ebay is around $80 and the Dorman at ebay is around $15.

I don't have any experience with the manual lumbar as all of mine were/are electric.

Only thing I can think of is the direction that it would be turned to increase lumbar support (CCW on DS, CW on PS), which may play into the retention of the knob inside? Or maybe the size of the shaft is slightly different? I would either try to find one in a PnP yard or get the Dorman. No way I'd pay $100 for a piece of plastic.

As you can see in the pics, the retention part of the knob is cracked where the clip holes are. It will take about 2 seconds to install new and since she never tries to adjust the lumbar, the new knob is there just to cover a bright yellow shaft sticking out. I even saved the metal plate and attaching springs for the lumbar adjustment, in case a possible new owner would want it. We have no plans of selling the TB. It is a rock solid vehicle, like my 2005 Tahoe Z71. At 6'4" tall and 290 lbs., I am still comfortable in the TB, in either front seat.

I would just put a hose clamp around the shaft to take up the slack, it will be hidden behind the outer part of the knob.

For $14, including shipping, I want to fix it correctly. Can't get in there and tension the clamp after installed back on shaft and the screw part of the worm gear clamp may cause an interference problem.

I thought about interference after I posted...
