15in wheels/rims, is it possible ?

Has anyone successfully fit a 15in rim on the Trailblazer/Envoy ? Im guessing that it is possible with spacers. Is some grinding of the disc caliper necessary? Are there 15in rim brands that make it easier ?

15s fit with 3.75 backspacing or less and 1.5 spacer or adapter. IF you have the small brakes.

If you have the larger front brakes, 15s are a no go and same factors needed to fit 16s.

I ran 15s for awhile and test fit 16s on the bigger brakes for reference years ago.

Many thanks, can you tell me the diameter of the brake rotor for the "smaller brakes". Id hate to step down in brake rotor size to get to 15in but would definitely set aside my 6-5 spacers and buy the 6-5 to 6-5.5 adapters in order to open up more options and less expensive options of 16in wheels.

I would have to google it. The large brakes are on long wheelbase or v8 models.

16 and 17 are far more common and not really much price difference than 15s these days. It is getting more and more difficult to get tires in 15, as well since OE has basically has abandoned it as a standard size.

Many thanks, im going with 16s and will update my spacers to 6-5.5 adapters. Determining how critical is rim width, any opinions on 16x6 rims vs 16x7 rims, does width make a real safety difference?, I'm leaning towards LT285-75-16.

A 6 is not wide enough. 7 is as skinny as i would go and I would be looking at 8 or 9 honestly. You start pinching the tire with a skinny wheel and the tread crowns and wears funny. The tires will have suggested wheel widths.

EDIT: Quick google shows that BFG says 7.5-9 width for a 285.
