my parking lights come on fine just no brake lights I even swapped out the bulbs.

I checked the stop lamp fuse it's fine?

I checked all fuses all are fine except the cig. liter in green
Is there a switch on the brake pedal? thanks for any tips

Is this what it looks like?image is it complicated mounting this plastic switch, I'm concerned I'd break it trying to attach.same part for a suburan an tahoe. thanks

Looks right. But test it first to be sure that's what's causing your issues. Use the schematic.

*****ignore this post, as it applies to a truck with the same light for both the brake and turn signal, which the Hummer H2 doesnt have*****

This is a common problem for A LOT of 2000's model GM.

If your brake lights, and turn signals, are on the same bulb at the rear, I would start with the turn signal thing at the steering column.

If it was the brake light switch, I dont think he would be able to shift it out of park with the shift interlock.

With one exception, if you have an aftermarket alarm, it could be the wiring for it, and how they splice it into the factory wiring.

yeah I read a little about the flasher, I'll diffenity check the blinkers an hazards an report back. I don't see how to remove this brake light switch unless I remove the whole underneth dash board.
not sure if it's orginal but I do see what appear to be spade fuses two of them up near the OBD2 port. I'll take some images.

tryed yesterday to resolve then thought awhwell just a switch on a pedal I slap a new one in ,in no time, wrong.
thanks Tollkeeper

Going to correct myself here...

Per this image, assuming its the same taillight as yours..

HPW HUMMER H2 REAR STAINLESS STEEL TAIL LIGHT TRIM SET

The brake light and turn signal are separate. So this would eliminate my earlier thought about it being the turn signal stalk.

the brakelight switch is indeed the same on the tahoe an the H2.I believe in 07 (mine) was changed to a differnt shaped switch however my 07 still uses the same switch as the earlier H2.

that switch will be very diffacult to replace.

yesterdtaillight switch underneth.jpgay I haven't looked that close at the H2 burearreduced.jpglbs but IIRC each bulb had just one filement. an I was swapping in a normal bulb w/ both taillight an brake light.
I also swapped in a parking light bulb w/ just one filement when press the brake w/ key off either bulb would come on as brake light.taillights work fine.

should I be reading 5volts at the socket when taillights are on?

my taillight lens don't have the yellow section like that black H2 it's red in middle an top lower section for reverse is white.
rearreduced.jpg
the middle is the tail light so I assume the both top an middle are brakes.
not sure what those lower reds are in bumper could they be the blinkers? thanks tollkeeper.

Those could just be reflectors.
