Have you tried a slightly smaller punch that might allow you to reach the sprocket with a diagonal approach?

I’m pretty sure that Cloyes in an OEM supplier for GM. I’ve taken a few apart and they’ve all said Cloyes on the chain. Glad to see you’ve found a problem and can move forward. Edit: I just did a quick search and found this...

How to test an awd front diff

I've had several out and have never seen a clip. I think the newest I've had one out of is a 2004 Rainier. I wonder if they updated it later on?

This puller is cheaper and works just fine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01AIRR4EY/?tag=elightbars-20 You will also find that most parts stores carry this puller and you can use it for "free". You can just go by the store, pick up the tool, leave a deposit, use the tool, return the tool, and...

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

When I do timing belts or timing chains, I change everything under the cover. It isn't worth the trouble to me to have to go back and do the same work again because I skipped over something. I just checked the stock of my local GMC dealer and they have three of those VVT sprockets in stock...

It sounds like you have the valve cover off. Turn the engine over by hand and see if the chains slacken up at any point.

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

I did the chains on a 2.4 Ecotec once. From the looks of how cramped things were, I just pulled the engine out. It was actually pretty easy to pull. I pulled it out from the top in about 2 hours. I'm glad I did it that way, it would have been very difficult otherwise. Also, while you're in...

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

I saw a TSB on another site and it was talking about how when they would do a warranty engine replacement on the 2010 cars that they didn't have any and that GM was sending 2011 engines. If they were doing that swap, they had to swap the cam actuator from the old engine. If the wrong one is...

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

I did some checking around and it looks like the high pressure fuel pump (this is a direct injected engine) is timed and if the timing is off then you can get high pressure codes. It kind of sounds like that since you have the P0016 and P0017 codes as well that something has gone wrong with...

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

That I'm aware of, there are no "failsafes" in those vehicles. Does it have oil in it? This is kind of a worst case scenario but, those are known to burn a lot of oil and the reason for the recall on the fuel pump was because it was leaking gas into the engine. Maybe the gas has diluted the oil...

    2011 Terrain codes; P228D, P0089, P0016, P0017

There is a recall on the 2010-2011 Terrains for the high pressure fuel pump. Maybe check and see if there are any open recalls. You can look it up here https://my.gm.com/recalls I would clear out the codes and go for drive. Check the codes when the light comes back on and see what there is.

What did you do to your GMT today?

Changed the spark plugs in my Acadia today. It had been getting about 15 mpg on the highway and it has 120,000 miles on it. It turns out the previous owner had put Autolite double platinums in it. I put OEM plugs back in it so I think that will help a lot.

    Issues with removing water pump

You're turning it counter clockwise, correct? Are you hitting the wrench with a hammer? That would help shock the threads when you're loosening it. You could also try and get a heat gun and heat the clutch hub a bit.

Issues with boring the I6 .020 over?

They do sell oversized pistons but the sleeves that are in there are already very thin. I don't remember where I read it but, someone had a machine shop start boring one and the sleeve started spinning in the block when they tried to bore it out.

SOLVED! G80 Differential "C" clip removal

If you heat up the housing where the bolt threads in, the loctite will soften up and let the bolt come out easier. With all of the oil in there, I would recommend using a heat gun to reduce the risk of fire.

possible rear axle bearing 04 Tblazer 4.2

If there is up and down play I would say that the bearing is bad. They're not too difficult to do. You have to take the cover off of the differential and take the C-clips out to get the axle shaft out. You may wind up having to replace the axle shaft because there is a possibility that the the...

A CASE relearn wouldn't hurt. I've seen it help with some misfire issues.

    Very Slight Miss at Idle

Misfires are detrimined by the crank sensor. When there’s a misfire, the velocity of the crankshaft changes and the PCM picks that up and puts out the appropriate code.

New (COMPLETE KIT) "GYMKO" GM Tech 2 Scan Tool

I totally agree. The Tech 2 is great but, for just under $500, you can get the Mongoose Pro for GM (they make other flavors for other manufacturers also) from Drew Technologies. This tool allows you to run Tech2Win which is a Tech 2 emulator on your laptop computer. You'll also be able to run...

Buick Rainier bad Intermediate Bearing Assembly or Differential

You can bend them until they stop. They bend quite a bit if you think about how much they bend while turning a tight corner.

Buick Rainier bad Intermediate Bearing Assembly or Differential

I'm not sure what else you could do. It is a pretty tight fit to get the CV axle out. I find it easier to pull the spindle side out first and then the disconnect side. You won't hurt anything to compress the joint. Be careful pulling on it though.

    Issues after O2 sensors replaced

It sounds like your O2 sensors are not working correctly. The P1133 and P1153 are "insufficient switching" for the O2 sensors. It sounds like they're stuck lean. Are you sure that you have the correct ones and put them in the correct place? I would also check to be sure that none of the wires...

Bad Alternator ? Volt gauge periodically maxes out....

I would check the voltage with a volt meter when the gauge spikes. If your meter correlates with the dash gauge, get an alternator.

    My "cursed" engine rebuild

That reminds me that I did buy the Dorman ones and didn't realize that it was short 4 bolts. I used the 10 and bought 4 more from the dealer. I have a digital torque wrench that measures angle and also shows what the final torque was after doing the angle. The Dorman bolts were noticeably harder...
