    What are you doing today?

Got woken up by Mrs. Moose when she called. Her car stalled and wouldn't restart just around the corner from home. Got it started by giving it some throttle but it wouldn't idle and ran like crap. Got it back home and drove the Mrs. to work. Suspecting water in the gas given the temperature...

Cooling Fan stayed on killed my battery 05 Silverado

Try swapping the fan relay with another one of the same type and see if it persists. If it does, time to break out the meter and check where the power is coming from. Having schematics would help (download the manual from the link in my signature).

    Be Careful Who You Anger...

And as luck would have it, my wife's car ran like crap and wouldn't restart this morning just a block from home. Did get it started but wouldn't idle. Got it home, put a couple of bottles of gas line antifreeze (methyl alcohol), gave it a shake and initially ran like crap but after a few...

    Sometimes... You CAN "Fix Stupid"...

Wow. That was more than just the wrong PCM, it didn't even fit on the connectors and the owner made it fit. And probably that one sensor that wasn't working was probably caused by the pin that was pulling out. That guy has no business under the hood of a car. Definitely Eric O. is the man...

    Be Careful Who You Anger...

Both of my son's full size trucks have had water in the tank for unknown reasons but just ran poorly. I doubt it's anything nefarious. My older son in North Bay gets his gas at a dubious quality gas station that sold at a discount price due to being on indigenous land (they have since cleaned...

    Tool Talk

Unfortunately, the ball joint press sets in parts stores and HF don't have all the required attachments. However, I have one of those from HF and for the uppers, I never had any problems but I may have used sockets with it. The lowers is another story. I eventually modified one of the tubes...

    Loud roar , speed related.

Fan clutch issue would be directly proportional to engine speed, not road speed. So far, this does indicate a hub problem.

    What are you doing today?

Working some more on the old sled. Just need to find a SS 2" exhaust pipe turn down that won't cost my left arm. It had one at the muffler but I cut it off years ago so I could extend it out the back of the sled. I might just leave it as-is or just use a cheap chrome exhaust tip under there...

2002 tb ltz not shifting into any gears

:iagree: To check if your pump got damaged, pull the driver side tranny oil cooler line and point it to a bucket. Get someone to start the engine. There should be a strong flow of fluid. If not, that's your problem.

    Jokes and Riddles

A man wakes up in a hospital, bandaged from head to foot. The doctor comes in and says, "Ah, I see you've regained consciousness. Now, you probably won't remember, but you were in a huge pile-up on the highway. You're going to be okay. You'll walk again and everything, however, your penis was...

Lazy upstream O2 sensor - concerns? (w/ screencap)

I took a 22mm deep impact socket and cut a groove in it. A few times I have stripped the hex on sensors with traditional 7/8" sensor tools and sockets. 22mm is just a little tighter and impact socket doesn't flex at all compared to some sockets. And I also recommend using a thread chaser on...

    Installed new alt., voltage fluctuates

That would be my assumption too. Way back when I was too young and stupid, I ran a car without a battery and the voltage was so high, I blew out just about every light bulb in it. The battery also acts as a buffer to absorb and regulate that power and without a battery (or with an open cell)...

Under Hood Emissions and other OEM decals

Husky liners are the cat's ass for this. Weathertech are OK but the Husky's cover more and retain the crap a lot better. Having been in a lot of vehicles with rubber carpets, they do wear out and once you have a hole in it, your floor underneath will get wet and rust. And you can't take them...

Official FedEX UPS USPS Vent Thread!!

UPS absolutely blew it, taking almost 3 weeks for a package from TX for Mrs. Moose. She hosted a party for reusable shopping bags and people were wondering when they'd get their stuff. And the delays were in the US, going through a bunch of processing centres.

high beams turn on by themselves ?

Could be the relay if the internal return spring is weak or broken. Swap it out with another one that's on something non-critical.

    Installed new alt., voltage fluctuates

Both great suggestions. The fact that it runs at 17+V, I would be very suspicious of the battery first, then the alternator. Both might be damaged. Just don't wait as you might blow some fuses and damage sensitive electronics at that king of voltages.

Lazy upstream O2 sensor - concerns? (w/ screencap)

You need a DIY Garage like I have here. It's fantastic with tire machine and balancer available. I'm buying a set of 19" tires for the Caprice for $100 that are excellent except one has some outer scrub wear. Any tire shop would just sell you a replacement for that one but I'll just put it...

Just a Case of Crushed Bushings??

But then as worn as they are, they might be easy? The spindle might just push out and leave you with just the bushing to deal with. But then, having done the other bushings, it's a bitch requiring a torch to burn out the rubber, a air hammer to punch out the old casing and a press to push in...

Just a Case of Crushed Bushings??

More than likely they were on their way out and the hit just finished them. Can't make it any worse than they are now but they will need replacing. Probably a bitch of a job to replace them so might be worth it to go with complete LCA's. Definitely check the springs. My son broke one on the...

Lazy upstream O2 sensor - concerns? (w/ screencap)

With those fuel trims, I'd wait to change them. At worse, it will die but it'll still run and you can get it done at a shop at your destination (easy job for them). Or have it done at a shop now. Should be an hour job, tops.

Question about Dielectric grease on transmission and Transfer case connections

I'm about 615km (382 miles) away. I sometimes drive down to NYC or Long Island. We can certainly share some beers if I ever come down that way! :Lager Louts: Always good to see success stories and it is the "raison d'être" of this forum. With the other work you're doing on this trucks, it...

Under Hood Emissions and other OEM decals

I'll defer posting pics of the stickers to members from the US in case they are different than Canadian versions. For the tanks, I usually get nice results by using a pressure washers with soap and then rinse. That includes the master cylinder. I do remember one member who had a Dorman tank...

Dim fuel low light - instrument cluster issue

If draining the battery with the old cluster is worrying you, you could do a parasitic draw test.

    What are you doing today?

Yesterday was pretty productive. Garage cleaned out as best as I can. Fixed a winch setup I have in the garage for lifting sleds for repair work. My son hit his head on it some time ago and decided to punch it from the ceiling. Started "restoring" my old sled to sell it off. Replaced the...

Dim fuel low light - instrument cluster issue

Heard of lots of dim battery lights but first I've heard of the low fuel light. Only found one thread at the OS and not much about it there: https://forums.trailvoy.com/showthread.php?t=78500 But that light is wholly controlled by the cluster IIRC. If there are no other issues, I'd just live...

Official FedEX UPS USPS Vent Thread!!

Excellent! I was able to get free shipping back for my mom who sent a rocking chair to my son. Because of miscommunications, they didn't need it and wasn't a valid free return reason. Chatted with Amazon on behalf of her and was able to get free shipping back and refund. Shipping was $100...

    What are you doing today?

Today, more garage cleaning so I can work on my old sled to sell it. Yesterday I picked up a track for it (1.25" Rispsaw) so I can keep the one that's on there now for my "new" sled (1.5" Crossover). It must have been recently replaced because it looks really good since the donor had 19k km...
