    Speedometer fix for bigger tires?

Since someone else mentioned the 2004, I'll assume that's what year you have? The ECM only has programming options up to a 30.5" tire, so you can get a little closer if you have a Tech-II or a dealership willing to make the change. Changing the gear ratio to be different from what you actually...

    Anyone running 265/70R16 (~30.6")?

In case you're still looking for pics, I also run 265/70R16's. Mine are the Big Foot series from Big-O tires. I'm on my third set now, never had any trouble with the tire rubbing the ball joint. I do not use any kind of spacers, but I do have the 1.5" lift that sits above the shock tower on...

Any way to slow oil usage?

I have a 2004 TB with 160k miles on it. I seem to be going through at least a quart a month of oil, although there are no drips on the garage floor nor is there any obvious smoke while running. I have been running Amsoil (signature series) full synthetic 5w30 since I bought it at 63k miles...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Unfortunately no. I did get both harnesses and the 2DIN adapter plate, but got hit with a couple of hefty, unexpected bills this week, so my paycheck for the month is shot. Hopefully I can get the stereo next month and get started on the install. If the amp isn't working, you would have...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Curious... your's looks molded - the plastic appears to be completely smooth, but the one shown on the Amazon link is definitely 3D printed because you can clearly see all the lines from the printing process. Ah well, they must have changed their product.

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Haha... ok then, ignore what Matt says, go with the original plan, and all will be right with the universe. :) Hey Matt, I just noticed that 2DIN adapter you had linked to above is 3D printed. I guess I hadn't realized that stuff could actually stand up to daily abuse now, although I'm not...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

OK good deal, so we're on the same page there and everyone seems to agree that the combination of those two pieces are a good match. If only I could find a radio that quickly which matched my requirements.

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Wait... when you say ASWC, are you referring to the Metra Axxess ASWC-1 that was mentioned above? I mean, both that and the GMOS-04 are made by the same company, but since it had already been mentioned I thought maybe you were referring to something different? The volume control is really the...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Wow, huge post and lots to talk about! All right, let's see if I can touch on everything... Android is important to me for a number of reasons. Yes, rootkit would be awesome if possible, I'm a linux man at heart so I could write up quick scripts to auto-sync things from the home network...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

This is the model I have been looking at. Oddly I can't seem to find it listed on Ali, although there are certainly a lot more models to look through... http://www.ebay.com/itm/7-2Din-Android-6-0-Quad-Core-In-Dash-Car-Stereo-Radio-DVD-Player-GPS-Navi-Cam-/201865973011

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

I was actually reviewing that exact model. Seems like programming is hit-or-miss for most people, but luckily appears to be a one-time setup and then you can forget about it. What is this about having to solder wires to hook up the steering wheel controls though? Did you actually have to do...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Radio reception never used to be a problem, and should *not* be a problem for me. I live 30 miles from Denver. I used to pick up radio stations almost all the way to Wyoming, but this radio just drives me nuts. Good to know there's another harness for SWC that works with the GMOS-04. Seems...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Thanks, but yeah android is a must-have. I like the apps on my phone, but I'd really rather have them on the dash. At the very least, Waze has been great. Ideally I would have preferred to build my own unit, but I can't even seem to find the app they all seem to use for the radio.

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

I was actually looking at the GMOS-04 earlier -- it had great reviews, especially in that it has separate volume adjustment pots for the chimes and the stereo input -- but I had no idea it did not have the steering wheel harness tied in as well. Sheesh what's it take to find one simple cable...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Huh... just realize it no longer displays all of my truck info in the sidebar. My TB is a 2004.

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

Ugh... I didn't realize the fader would be an issue. Don't they still use a regular 4-speaker setup so the radio can just adjust the volume of front/rear independently? Thanks for the links to the harnesses... will read up on both of them shortly...

    Aftermarket radio with Bose amp

I'm looking at getting an Android stereo... FWIW it's a chinese seller off ebay, which I know I'm taking a chance, but such is life... So the one thing that I cannot seem to get any info on is the output. The unit is listed as 45W x 4, but nobody can seem to tell me if it has standard...

    Winch install (installed with pics)

That looks really good with the control box removed and mounted under the hood, nice job! I've been looking at the Badlands winches for awhile now. They don't have the 10k pound model here, but they do have a 12k which looks exactly the same. Been selling for $289 for awhile now, but I...

Speaker hum after hitting a bump

Sorry for the delayed reply! For some reason I never got my usual email notifications that there were replies to my thread and I just decided to check up on it today. Anyway... Thanks BlckShdw, I'll check on that bolt tonight. As I mentioned it is a pretty infrequent issue and hasn't...

Speaker hum after hitting a bump

2004 TB with the Bose 6-disc player. This is *very* intermittent, occurring maybe once every month or two. Basically if I hit a bump, or go over some rough tracks, I will start to get a loud hum out of the speakers (seems to be louder on the right side). There's a general buzz that never...

    hvac actuators and dash removal

All right, while I'm searching for an answer maybe I'll get lucky and someone sees my post... I have the old actuator out (yes I'm sure I got the right one), but I don't see anything wrong with it. Popped it open, no problem with any of the gears. I did see mention of a 'weak' actuator...

    hvac actuators and dash removal

Can someone help me with the part number for the actuator that controls the floor/dash mode? Roadie's pic on the first page doesn't seem to list that one. When I turn my fans all the way up, I get a bit of air out of the top, a bit more down by my feet, and never anything at all from the front...

    Radio compatibility - Bose 6CD

And yes, $80 is what they actually quoted me... So something interesting happened tonight. On the way home I stopped at a couple places and checked the radio reception. Yeah that doesn't sound any better than what I had before. Got home thoroughly disgusted, pulled out the new radio and put...

    Radio compatibility - Bose 6CD

Well I found something that works... You can press 5, right Seek, and Power all at the same time, and it will turn on the radio. None of the buttons work, and you have to turn on the ignition to turn the radio back off again, but the results were promising! I picked up my favorite low-power...

Yeah, I wish. I have HPTuners, but haven't found anything to suggest that has the ability to access the radio.

    Radio compatibility - Bose 6CD

I got the new radio installed last night, but hoping someone can help me out. In reading about the theftlock stuff (I know this unit is VIN-encoded, needs a dealer to unlock), I ran across a combination of buttons that would unlock the radio for 10 minutes for testing. Of course I didn't think...

    Radio compatibility - Bose 6CD

Actually my stock unit does say "band" rather than AM/FM, and I do have an amp as part of the Bose sound system. I finally went ahead and grabbed a unit from ebay. Not too bad, $83 with shipping, the face appears to be in good condition (but I figured I could always pull the face or buttons...

    Radio compatibility - Bose 6CD

Well that figures. I can't believe through 8 years of production and GM didn't hear a hell of a lot of bitching about a non-functional device. So, any more input on what years are compatible? I saw on ebay they all have 2005-2007 listed separately from the 2002-2004 radios, even though...
