If you are changing the filter I would recommend upgrading to dex 6.

If you are currently running the oem dex 3 is fine to top it off. There is nothing wrong with dex 3 it is just that dex 6 is much more stable at different Temps and runs cooler.

Hi, gettin back late, Yea I read May's sticky & added 2 qts dex6. I changed it when we got it 40k ago. My daughter drives it...started a slip condition (+500rpm) at the 2-3 shift under moderate & above acceleration-Yikes! She's thinkin of getting a new vehicle & maybe I'll run it thru the winter?

You probably just need to upgrade/replace the servo, 1-2 accumulator, 3-4 accumulator, and forward piston. The parts are cheap and usually restore shift firmness to better than stock. You can do this yourself and with basic tools.

You say it so easily...lol any instructions/vids for this procedure? and where to source parts? Is all that stuff in the valve body I presume?

You can change the servo from the outside, the 1-2 accumulator and forward piston can be done with the valve body in place, just drop the pan. The 3-4 accumulator is under the valve body so it would need to be dropped for that one.

There are great video on you tube for these procedures that go into great detail.
