Didn't manage to get photo but at the campground a few weeks ago a Ford Explorer could not get their travel trailer off the campsite due to having had a lot of rain. Unhooked and a Tahoe backs up, hooks on and pulls it straight off the site to the road. Explorer then re-attaches and heads for home. My next door neighbor had 2 trannies in his F150 in 200,000 km. Really strange thing is he just traded it in for another F150 ???

We replaced our hybrid travel trailer in May with a new one. 4750# GVWR for the trailer, and I'm getting 11-12 mpg towing it too! Only a little bit less than our old 3500# trailer.

On the way back from Knoxville, TN, moving my mom up to stay with us. She recently finished chemo and radiation treatment.

Stopped for gas and a short break and I chatted with this guy. He had the I6, and wasn't getting the greatest mileage. I was getting about 14 with the 5x8 trailer with about 500# in it.

Its a lot of fun. The famous roadie butt-dyno says it does around 30mph give or take. It doesn't handle much chop very well but then again its a solid 8ft long! May have to check into lake houston one of these days but lately ive just been navigating the oh so beautiful clear creek. (for those of you that dont know its got to be some of the nastiest water ever)

First off I want to say this site is great. I've been rigging up my envoy to be a better tow vehicle and have had a bunch of questions along the way, thank you to all who have helped me out. I do have to say also I was a bit skeptic about my envoy being able to pull my trailer with my car on it, but I was very impressed with the way the envoy pulled it.

Here's what I am now towing with my envoy

Hey Smokey, where do you run. With a rad relocate and paddle tires it looks like that 'gade is set for mud.

Our camp is just south of Minden, so most of our riding is between the 5 points, fenelon falls and minden. I love to ride in the mud and shudder at the thought of taking a "go around" lol! This bike was the perfect match for me! Its not a gade tho, its the 1000 XMR. That's what it looks like stock, right from the factory

Not a tow, but a haul for sure! I took some scrap steel and old engine parts to the scrapper yesterday. Loaded up Saturday, but they weren't open. I knew it was a decent amount as the TB rode pretty good with a little sway. Front to rear was pretty level. Looked at the receipt when I left and saw that I unloaded 694 lbs of scrap! I wish I had taken a pic, but I didn't. Netted me a cool two Grant's and two nickels.

Not bad...

I also now know the TB, me and 1/4 of a tank weighs 5300 lbs. Porky!!

Only by a couple hundred lbs. Not surprising with the full body on rear vs your hollow shell bed.

My long bed '98 GMC with a 4.3 weighed in at 4200#. Even that surprised me, given all the open space.

Had my first real towing experience with my truck back in August when I was going back to school. Rented a 5x8 Uhaul trailer and loaded nearly to the brim. Additionally, the inside of my truck was pretty packed too (the bags really came in handy) I live in Atlanta and was towing to my house in Statesboro (Georgia Southern University. Go Eagles!) which I was just moving into. The trip is about 230 miles. I got about 19 mpg the whole way towing in third the whole time. I was satisfied.

This is what I towed to Kissimmee, FL from Sarasota, FL then back to Sarasota, FL from Kissimmee. It was roughly 240 Miles towed in 3rd 10.5MPG. It's a 14' enclosed Trailer weight not sure but it also has custom shelving.

Drove to kissimmee, FL to pick up furniture for my brothers apt.

Yup:thumbsup: squared off the front; wood floor and sides; dual ramps makes a nice utility trailer

Good idea so long as you keep that in mind when loading it, but I can tell by the way you've got the weight of that tractor right on the axle you already know that. I've got a trailer that takes some careful loading myself, but the opposite problem, my axle is centered, so no tongue weight at all. If I don't get weight far enough forward it fishtails something fierce.

I love being out in town and seeing people pulling their trailers that are so poorly loaded its just a matter of time before something goes very wrong. Not long ago saw a tow truck that had the front end of a Peterbilt up int the air behind it. Everytime the guy hit the gas at a light the front tires of the tow truck left the ground. I was just watching the minivan with the family of 5 in front of him and looking for my first oppurtunity to get away from the moron.

So, made the decision that this...

Was just to small for my needs. Easy to maneuver and all, but just not big enough..

So I went out, and bought this....

Its just a tiny bit bigger!

Now I need a brake controller, anyone have one for sale?

Actually I do have a time delay version hanging around that's not being used. PM me and we can work details.

Lately, my TB has had a trailer behind it quite a bit. First, we went out and bought this little guy off of Craigslist (for a very, very good price!)

Then, once we got it mobile, I took it out on a run to get this (also off of CL)

After that, I went back to our big trailer to get this bad boy (off of CL)

Then, we got the small trailer cleaned up and repainted, and new springs, mounts, wheels and tires

And finally, we went to pick up some pieces that had been welded together for us (courtesy of the guy we got the tank from off of CL)

The black trailer is a 16' tandem axle and the small trailer is an old 18' boat trailer... I don't know what the little trailer weighs but I can roll it over on my own. The black trailer weighs somewhere around 1200lbs. The large tank weighs close to 600lbs and the large tank with the pipe on the end weighs in at 800lbs.
