Swap 6l90 for 8l90 in GMT900

hi All

As per a previous post, transmission still has some issues, and I started pondering replace vs rebuild... Then I started wondering if the 8l90e would fit in the event of a replacement.

Supposedly the physical fit is the same; although I'm wondering about the computer, what programming is involved/etc.

In my case, I'd be stuffing it behind a 2011 LY6 motor.

Wondering if anyone has done this - installed an 8l90e in place of a 6l90e in a GMT900 platform vehicle?

I still have a 4L60E in my 2007.

I know you would need PCM/TCM reprogramming at the very least. The TCM may be entirely different, actually.
