This is going to be vague I warn you. I'm willing to check some things out but I need a little guidance. There is a squeaky rattle (as best I can describe it) underneath my TB. Doesn't seem noticeable at higher speeds, more slower and inner city speeds. It's definitely coming from underneath, but I can't spy it exactly. It almost seems as if something is loose. There is play in the muffler/tailpipe in that it will move back and forth by hand, but I've never checked it before so I'm not sure if that's normal or not. It's not stiff play more like it's intended.

I also checked my drive shaft and there isn't any back and forth play at all but I can turn it by hand when I'm underneath. Again, not sure if that is normal or not either.

I'm a little over 200,000 K on it, third owner. I've only recently started towing with it, but not very much (like <5 times), a utility trailer I picked up with small loads in it so far.

I'm trying to figure this, google/GMT/TV searches haven't yielded quite the results I'm looking for. I will crawl under again and check my U joint but I don't know that it would make that sound. I almost seem to recall a similar sound in my old Sunfire when the muffler mounts started loosening/rusting, but that was too long ago for my spotty memory to do justice.

I have ramps/jack/jackstands etc to work with and moderate mechanical know how, just need steering in the right direction. Thanks as usual for any help!

I got underneath and I'm pretty sure I've found the source of my noise. Where the front driveshaft goes into the transmission is where I'm pretty sure my rattle is coming from. Here's a video where I manually try and recreate said noise.

Can anybody help me out? Need to know if I gotta get this thing into a shop or if there's a fix I can do myself. I have access to a lift and moderate mechanical knowhow.

2 vids trying to capture the noise. Nevermind the squeaky part of the title, I'd call it a straight rattle.

1st vid you can hear the sound right away, ignore the clanking later on that's just a hitch i've got lying in the back.

2nd Video the clarity kicks in around 27s or so.
