Possible fuse box problem

This morning my envoy Denali wouldn't start. I pulled the codes. A bunch of power train codes. So I did a little reading up and people say most of the time its the fuse box. Luckily I had a brand new ignition switch in my wrecked envoy that I installed and it cranked right up and the codes disappeared. I want to purchase a spare fuse box just in case this happens again. Is this the correct part number for 06 envoy Denali? I know the 07+ won't fit cause they are made different.

Does the Envoy not have a box you could use as a spare in case? It isn't that common a thing to go bad so I'd doubt you'd ever need a spare one.

No it does not. I'm talking about the whole under hood first junction.

I just don't want to be stranded. I have a habit of buying backup parts just in case something goes bad lol. I have extra starter and alternator in my trunk

I have read about a couple of fuse box failures but from memory, they were caused by bad contact with the fuses and melted the box and/or wires. I don't think it's a common problem. You have way more chances of the alternator and starter failing than the fuse box. There's probably a higher probability of the engine failing than the fuse box (but don't carry an spare engine, LOL!)

Well I'm stuck at the bank now. I know for a fact it's the fuse box. Now I have to wait til it cools down. I hate this. The 06 SSR and trailblazer SS have multiple failures. I just read on both forums. Seems pretty wide spread to me since I'm stuck now

Maybe unbolt the fuse box and check it first, before you go out and buy a replacement. Visual confirmation is much more reliable than making assumptions. :twocents:

Oh, you've got the 5.3 don't you? That's probably why it doesn't ring a bell, the 4.2 box was not typically an issue but I'm starting to recall a little more about the 5.3 side. Different fuse box for the other engine, makes sense.

I'd be curious if you pulled your fuse block if there was an obvious wire break like that one guy.

Seems the (limited) info I've found about the fuse blocks are the part numbers have changed but the blocks were basically the same, but I'm not a pro on that. What changed in 07+ that makes it not work in yours?

The 07 + are totally different design. I think that fuse box only has one big relay. I was reading on the SSR forum and there are some little copper bars that run across the terminals and have bends in them that break. I don't have time to do the repair because I have so much going on. I'd rather get a replacement and repair the old one later.

Makes sense.

Does your existing fuse block match this 2nd design layout? Fuse #35 upper right hand corner, 40 amp green/clear top J case fuse, #32 upper left 30 amp pink/clear top J case fuse.

OK cool, should be a part number on the side of it then, on a label, although it may be dirty/worn off by now.

Doesn't say the part number though.

I did run across this info:

2005-2006 V8 part number 15297902, replaced by 10375734

2007-2009 V8 Part number 15250135, replaced by 25790682

That one you referenced earlier (15141559) gets more hits though, for a 2005/2006 Buick Rainier V8. Same platform though, seems that should be fine, a couple SS guys said it was a direct fit for them. Heck of a lot cheaper too.
