The end of the vent hose should be well shielded from water, even a pressure washer.

If it's clogged you need to determine if it's the hose or the vent. Most likely the end is clogged. If the hose is off the vent tube on the diff housing you can easily get water in the diff, not likely if the vent tube is clogged though. Clogging usually happens when the hose is off or split at the vent tube. Some diff lube will be spewed out, normal for the venting action, but because the hose if off or split, that allows dirt to collect on the oily surface and build up. Eventually it will be enough to clog the breathing and pressure builds and oil is then forced out from wherever it can find a way out.

Ok interestingly enough I brought the truck back and had the pinion seal done and vent hose replaced so it can be relocated higher. They found the U-Joint was not pressed together properly and some part of it was installed off to the side or something so now it is being replaced. They feel the vibration may be causing a leak which thinking about it seems a bit odd but entirely possible. I just want this leak issue to end so they have the truck for tomorrow to do it...
