I just got a little over 19mpg and that was with several miles of slow crawl traffic this evening.

Prior to the Lift, Wheel Spacers and Bigger tires I used to get around 300 miles on a tank (4.10 rear). Now I'm lucky to get 250.
Been averaging 14.0 - 14.2. Next addition i'm going to do the PCM4less tune so hoping that may help.......

I take solace in the fact that consumer reports rated the Traverse at 16 mpg's overall. Our MPG's suck...it is what it is but at least I'm not driving a station wagon.

I have a 2008 LT 4.2L 4x4 3.42s, bone stock. I bought it with 36K on it and am about to hit 47K in 6 months of ownership. I always log/calculate my mileage and have found that the mpg as calculated on the DIC always reads anywhere from 0.2-1.0mpg high.

When I got it back in the fall, I could usually see about 17-18 on a good day and about 14-16mpg over the winter when the cold weather hit. Since the weather has been getting nicer and I don't need to warm up or use the defroster, its already back on the upswing again for spring.

I averaged 13.X mpg on a tank like twice, but usually the lowest is 14-15mpg. The best I ever got was 23.4mpg on the way to the beach last fall according to the DIC, but I ended up cruising around in traffic in Ocean City, MD for cruise week on the rest of that tank, so the final numbers were low. But my average on the DIC was pretty close to my calculated average, so I was happy with that. I was keeping it at 65mph on cruise that whole time, and it was still going up before we got into town.

The best I got without trying to keep a particularly light foot was 21mpg on the way to Long Island over Christmas to visit family. 75-85mph the whole way, no cruise control. That wasn't too shabby. Seems like 65mph is the sweet spot for me.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I really think the driver has a lot to do with it. I've always seemed to get pretty satisfying mpg in all of my cars. People need to realize there is more to getting good mpg than just keeping at a particular speed, or rpms. Every little nuance of your foot pressure on the gas pedal will drastically impact your mpg. If you have access to a OBD2 scanner, hook it up and monitor your throttle position or the engine load, and you will see how it affects your mileage. That's what I've done, and now I subconsciously am aware of how hard to push and when.

When I first got my truck (from a dealership half way across the State), I had to make several trips back and forth down the interstate. Speed averaged between 55-85mph and included some in-town driving as well. At the time, I was getting over 400 miles per tank (I believe I have the 22gal tank).

I got a PCMforLess tune and 265/70-16 tires at around the same time, and my mileage hasn't been the same since. After some recent repairs, I might be able to get 300 miles from a tank now, but my average mileage is still in the mid-15's.

I just got HPTuners last week, and I'm still trying to figure out the logging, but from what I can tell so far, the PCMforLess tune seems to be controlling the fuel within a reasonable tolerance... not bad at all considering it is a general tune rather than dialed in for a specific vehicle. I'm still considering loading up the stock tune, however, just to see if there are any immediate changes in the mileage. Might as well try everything while trying to bring the numbers back up again. Its hard to believe that simply changing to a tire which is 1" wider and 1" taller can have such a drastic affect. I would really like to change over to 4.10 gears, but I haven't been able to find a front set available anywhere.

This is very true with this vehicle , it doesn't take much pressure on the pedal to get the torque converter to unlock .

Took my 08 envoy to florida this winter. 3200 miles of highway and 600 city. I averaged 21 for the trip. Highway by itself was 22.5. Highway driving was mostly at 68. This is completely stock.
