Every now and again...all of us need to know something about one or more fasteners that we are either replacing or upgrading. But trying to find information about the often bewildering number of bolt designs, Metric vs. SAE, special dimensions, thread pitch vs. thread count, not to mention the array of special tools required to take them out and put them back in the right way and with the proper torque can be a show stopper. This "FASTEN"ating site will provide many answers to many questions and be a good place to the check the facts about the problems we all face with "Nuts and Bolts" before we make a mistake and "Screw" things up:

Thanks for this information and really....It is so very strange and serendipitous that as you were sitting at your computer, writing about that “nut and bolt thread measurement" device... at that very moment... I was out in the garage and stumbled across this ancient treasure:

http://s557.photobucket.com/user/60...MADEEFICLEANER/Machinists_Tools?sort=3&page=1

When Howard Carter broke the religious seal on the Tomb of King Tutankhamen, the archaeological team members asked him, "What do you see..?" He replied, "Things... Wonderful Things!" That pretty much sums up my emotions when I cracked open the lid on this Old, Gray Machinist's Tool Treasure Chest early this morning. These tools and others like them in Machine Shops all over were used to build America from the ground up. They built everything from the Norden Bomb Site to every single Nut and Bolt that once fastened this Great Nation together. It is a sad indictment that those very same fasteners have rusted and corroded and as such our infrastructure is dissolving beneath our feet! Sadly... with the advent of Artificial Intelligence, and CNC Machines and 3D Printing... We shall never see their like again... Neither the Tools... nor the Men who knew how to use them.

I followed up on your find...and it looks like they also have thread gauges that hearken back to the nostalgic time I mentioned... and what do you know... There might be hope for human skilled labor yet after all...at least until "The Rise of The Machines"!
