My 2003 TB amp is dead (dealer diagnosed) and I've been looking for a used replacement (new is $600+). I found a 2005 Envoy with the right codes (6 disc + premium speakers/amp) at a wrecking yard but the guys there say 2002-2004 are the only compatible years. Everywhere else I look seems to indicate 2002-2009 are compatible.

Anyone know for sure?

I think you need to give a little more detail to get the response you need. Are you just replacing the amp, or are you buying the head unit and the amp from the wrecker?

If you are just replacing the amp and the codes match (LUX vs non-LUX) then I can't see why an amp swap would not work. But give a little more detail on your codes and what you are planning and someone with more expertise will likely steer you straight.

From what I can tell on car-part.com, amps from 2002 to 2004 should work but I saw some overlap with 2004 to 2009 models too. You need to get the correct RPO number from your glovebox and match it to the donor truck.

Listen to these two ^^ responses...especially the LUX vs non-LUX, that especially makes a big difference.

If there is a part number on the amp itself, I'm sure that would also work.

Hmm, I could have sworn I added a reply a couple of days ago. Guess I got distracted.

Both vehicles have the UQA RPO but I don't know what LUX is. I guess I'll just have to get the part number off my amp (had it already but can't find the paper I put it on) and find out the compatible numbers then check the 2005 amp and see if its OK.

Its 2002 thru 2004.5. My 04 Envoy amp would more than likely not work on your truck, as I have the Non-Lux Amp (build 11/04, changeover happened 10/04). Your 2002 should be the lux model thou.

Non-Lux amp

Lux Amp

Completely different beast. The plugs will physically plug into either amp. But the wiring is completely different, and the unit wont function. You definitely need to find the correct unit.

I missed that last reply, The Lux appears to be 4 bolt mount and the non-lux a 3? If that's always the case then yes mine is a Lux model. Part #15099842

I think I finally found a used replacement. Looking online I found three part numbers that are supposed to be compatible and one of the local wrecking yards has a 2004 Raineer and a 2002 Envoy with the UQA RPO.

I had a look and although both are four bolt (assume thats LUX) neither part number was in the four I have listed.

The desk said it doesn't matter, All 2002-2004 models had the compatible amp.

Is that correct?
