FUEL FILTER for 2005, 4.2, 4WD

Hi Guys,

Is there more then one Fuel Filter on the 4.2 engines?

My '05 has only a screen in the tank and not an external in-line filter like normal, although they do show one on You Tube.

Anybody else have this arrangement like me?

RockAuto shows an inline filter for a '05 trailblazer 4.2, but not AC brand. I had an 2004 trailblazer and if I recall the filter was near the frame sorta under the drivers seat area. This is what I see on rock auto, but you can also check your local parts store or Amazon also.

I'm pretty sure 05 was the first year of the returnless fuel system. If that's the case, no external filter. Easy way to tell is to look at the fuel rail. If there's only one line and no pressure regulator, it's returnless. It will also have a fuel pressure test port where the regulator used to be on the older ones.

I didn't know about a "return system" but that's probably why there is no in-line filter.
