Factory hitch capacity for receiver bike carriers

I'm considering buying a motorcycle carrier that plugs into the 2" hitch. I've read here that the factory hitch is rated to 500 and 900 lbs - what is the most I can go?

With a properly rated weight DISTRIBUTING hitch, where half of the weight gets transferred to the front wheels, the hitch is rated to 900 lbs.

For your application, or for any tongue weight not using a WD hitch, the limit is 400 pounds.
