Ok I have the trim coming loose on my '03 GMC Envoy and need to know a good glue or tape to use to hold as good as the factory stuff. I have tried some of the glues and tapes from AutoZone and Walmart and nothing seems to hold for very long. I want something that will hold as good or better than what they use at the factory. It appears they used some kind of tape at the factory, so needless to say I tried the 3M stuff and it seems to hold ok except for the ends of the trim. It aggravates me to no end trying to get it fixed. Can anybody recommend something that works? I've thought about trying Gorilla Glue.. can't be any worse than the things I've tried. If I can't find anything I think I might just rip the trim off and clean up the residue and be done..lol

:undecided: Which kind of 3M tape did you use, I know they have multiple kinds.

I have used the molding tape for years with great results. It's the thicker, gray foam, with the red liner on it. Same kind that's used on the in-channel window vent visors.

Of course, no one will tell you that demolding your doors is a bad thing either.

3M does have several different varieties of tape. They have one that is pressure sensitive, and adheres stronger, the harder you press it down. The issue that you're having though is probably more of an issue with the moldings than the adhesives you're using. You could try removing them, then using a heat gun, warm up the ends and bend them a little bit so that they'll lay flat, then quench the plastic with cold water to give the plastic a new memory. Do all that before you thoroughly clean the old adhesive off the door and molding to prep for retaping. 3M also makes a really good adhesive remover that will make it a TON easier to remove the old adhesive from the molding and door.

NAPA sells automotive adhesive in caulking style tubes. I used it to glue the plastic panel on the top of the liftgate of my TB when it broke off one winter due to an ice buildup. It's excellent adhesive and lasted for at least 4 years, then I sold the TB 1 1/2 years ago. As far as I know it's still holding up fine. I'll use that instead of tape in a heartbeat.
