Yep. I use a Cobra 75 WX and a Firestik for communication on the trails. Got a big whip antenna in the garage but would rip it off in a heartbeat offroad.

Cobra 29LXR with a Palmier 350 amp. I use mine to talk to my wife when we are in separate vehicles. Hands free only town. CB is not effected with that law. Back on subject. I have enough engine to burn the tires a little but want more and I think the 6.2 LS3 480 hp and Kooks tuned headers will do nicely. I would go with the 525 hp but I dont like how ruff the torque levels on the dyno look. when I get it i am using a junk yard computer and harness. $200 vs $1200 then dyno the engine for peak performance on a engine dyno while I pull the old one. New mounts from dirty dingo will let me use the original motor mounts. I am also going to make my own engine and coil covers. along the coils I will have a led logo "LS3 6.2L 376" and on the engine cover a GMC logo with led. all attached to a hood switch so It will glow the logos when the hood opens.

Definitely a nice motor. Would love to drop one in my suburban since the 350 TBI is a dog.

Projects seem to be piling up for me too. The never-ending TB build, the 93 v8 ZJ slowly accumulating parts, the 91 burban with the new tranny on a pallet under it, the 88 s-10 hopefully getting the fullsize ford HP Dana 44 and 9 inch sitting in the woods so it will be the truggy/beater rig. But my vehicles are on hold while helping Dad with his Triumph TR6(just pulled trans and driveshaft Tuesday) and getting the new full bath done on the basement.

I only sleep about 4 hours a day and wish I had 32 hour days just to keep up with life.

I have an update on the LS3. After the longs two years of research for what I need to put this new LS3 in my truck I found out last night that I could build a LS3 engine in my shop for 10K to 12K cheaper. $5K or less.

I finally realized why they borrowed the heads from a L92. That is not the only thing they borrowed. The block as well. Turns out they made the 6.2L for the Denali's, Escalade's and LTZ model trucks in 2007.

Now the LS3 borrowed the rest of its parts from the L76 6.0L corvette "car" engine. It replaced the L92 tall intake with the L76 shorter one. Then replace the lower oil pump and oil pan with the L76.

Now the mods to the engine was they removed the VVT cam and replaced it with a regular one and changed the cam cover. then changed the valve springs, push rods and rocker arms.

The result of changing the intake was the taller one produced more torque than HP, the shorter one created more HP than torque. That and you can close the hood. With the intake being cathedral and the heads rectangular there was no need to change the design of the intake. The rectangle heads produce more flow at 68cfm verses the 63cfm the cathedral style produced. Now aftermarket intakes have them matched with the L92 heads creating 70cfm. Changing the cam, rods, valve springs and rocker arms to a lighter ones helped create more HP. Changing the oil pump and oil pan was needed to clear the chassis and keep it from hitting the oil pan on the ground.

Now you have a car version of the L92 with more performance to make it stand out a little in the Chevrolet SS Concept car (Holden VF Commodore copy to replace the Pontiac G8 after Pontiac was discontinued) , Corvette, Pontiac G8, and Camaro SS.

So to the cheap build. Since I am going with the L92 and build a custom L92/LS3 for my truck I am keeping the intake to the L92. The L92 engine I can get in a junkyard for $2500 to $3500 depending on mileage. Change the cam. polish and port the heads. add 72 lbhr injectors and a 92 or 102 mm TB.

Now that was just the engine. The truck will need to have a few upgrades for this swap. I need electric fans. Those will be added soon.

Any thoughts?
