Hole in number 3 cylinder wall I think maybe #2
Anyway this 78000 mile replacement going in tonight
Knew it was gonna go but had to get to work so I drove it
Still runs but oil blowing on exhaust did not make the local authorities happy
Drove 2 miles at 75 just to see what would happen
Well drove in on the trailer and will be driving it in my bay after work
500 bucks from junkyard cam with front diff all accessories and the front disco

Just be sure that the diff that came with it is same ratio as yours. Be prepared for a long slog. Swapping these are a PITA.

If the diff isn't the same it is at least fairly easy to swap the diff over when the engine is out.

Would be a good time to rebuild the 4x4 disconnect as well, especially since you don't really know the condition of the used one.

Wouldn't be a bad thing to flush it to make sure it is good and clean inside.

Back in running great but temp is a little high
Lower hose is a little cooler then the upper so leaning towards a bad t-stat
Luckily I have a whole engine with many new delco parts on it for a cheap and easy swap over to the current engine

It's normal for the lower hose to be cooler as this is a reverse flow system. How much is "hotter"? Did you check actual temps using a scanner? One had a similar issue and was basically fine. Just the gauge itself was off.

Just by hand there was a very noticeable difference
Changed tstat today and right back at the correct needle position on the dash
Computer reading 209-215 with ac on in moderate traffic
