Discovered a bad bearing in the alternator and was attempting R&R and encountered this issue:

The two steel inserts must be move slightly away from the alternator body to allow it to be removed from the mount. I’ve used PB Blaster to ease the process but the collar insert won’t move. What is the procedure to move it to allow the alternator to be removed.

Much thanks!!

All I have done is find something to get behind it, and pry the alternator out. Once the alternator is out, you can get behind that dowel spacer thing, with a hammer, or something, so you can put the new alternator in.

After looking closer I discovered the collar did not have to be moved since it is merely a friction fit to the alternator. I first thought it was sleeve into the mounting hole. Thanks for point this out causing me to realize the position of the collar.

Thanks!

Please consider this solved.
