I've been away for a while, sold my trusty but rusty TB and picked up q surprisingly clean and low miles Yukon. Absolutely love it. But, the quirky engineers at GM have proven their quirkiness once again by showing their attempts at alternatives to conventional wisdom, and in this case it's using adhesives and plastics to construct the hinge on the lift hate glass. WTF are they thinking? I've found that they actually changed the design for the last 2 years of the model run (06&07), and used bolts through the glass (I think), but I would love to come up with or learn about a fix rather than a glass swap. I figured the swap would be easiest but I can't find a rear glass to save my life.
I tried JB Weld after scoring all the surfaces with a dremel then acetone cleaning the surfaces. It held for 3 weeks and broke again.
Who knows of a better fix?
